MEMPHIS, TENN. (January 9, 2008)…A
little more than 11 years ago, Collierville residents Jim Robie
and Melody McKeever made a first date at Jim’s Place
East that would soon turn their hearts toward marriage and secure a tradition
with the Memphis landmark restaurant. The couple returned to Jim’s last year on
Valentine’s Day to commemorate this turning point in their lives.
“Our first date at Jim’s Place on
November 2, 1996 also happened to be my birthday,” said Jim, a pilot for FedEx
who also shares the same first name with his restaurant of choice. “We married the very next year. I am now the
happiest man on the planet.”
“Life with
Jim has been all I imagined and more,” said Melody, a managing director and CFO for Picaboo Pics, a baby photography
company. “I wish
all couples could be as happy as we are… the world would be a nicer
place.” Within
their blended families, the couple now shares five adult children and four
grandchildren.
The
couple also has other reasons to return to Jim’s - - including ambience and
service. “When we step inside the doors, we can leave the hustle and
bustle of our busy lives for a couple of hours and enjoy focusing on each
other,” Melody said. “And the service is
impeccable. From the time we are greeted at the door, through the entire
evening, each staff member we have encountered has been exceedingly
professional. They know just how to serve without interrupting conversation or
the mood of the evening.”
As far as Jim’s Place menu items, Melody favors the spanakopetakia (spinach Phyllo puff) appetizer, the Jim’s Special filet mignon main course and European midnight layer cake for dessert. Jim prefers the crabmeat stuffed mushrooms for starters, the Jim’s Special filet mignon and Chantilly Key Lime pie.
The couple
also maintains a vacation home in a small mountain town in Colorado. They are
reserving Melody’s birthday, May 19, to return to Jim’s Place as the two are
headed west to ski on Valentine’s Day this year.
“Probably
my favorite thing is that we always create another special memory when we come
to Jim's East,” Melody concluded.
Jim’s
Place will offer a full selection menu for Valentine’s Day and for the
preceding and following weekends in celebration. For more info call 388.7200,
